I recently took Michelle’s course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, and have learned so much from her course and from her and others in her private Facebook group for students. So, I was super excited to be able to interview Michelle for this series! Keep reading to learn more about Michelle…

How long have you been blogging?

In the summer of 2011, I started Making Sense of Cents with the aim of teaching people how to save money as well as journaling my personal finance journey after reading a magazine that featured a personal finance website in one of their articles. I became extremely interested in that website and my interest in blogging just grew from there. This is interesting and hilarious because before that same summer, I had no idea about what blogs were, that they could even make money, and so on. It’s crazy to think about how much can change in just 5 years!

Why did you start blogging? And is the reason that you blog today the same or different?

I did not create my blog with the intention of making money blogging or to turn it into a business. It was all just a hobby. So yes, the reason is much different today, but I still have a lot of fun with it, of course.

How does your blog help your readers?

On my blog, I talk a lot about different ways to make extra money, the best ways to save money, achieving your dream life, traveling full-time (me and my husband RV full-time), and more. I have helped readers pay off their debt, make more money, start their own business, travel more, and more.

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

Ha, this is an interesting question. I have no clue what I would do all day if I were invisible.

One word that best sums up your personality?

I would say ambitious. I always find myself wanting more and more, but in a good way. I like to learn, I like to improve on myself, and more.

What is something that you’ve learned about yourself because of blogging?

I’ve learned that I love to write! I actually really disliked writing and English classes when I was in school. I’m sure my teachers would find it hilarious that I am now a full-time writer.

What is your best advice for someone that wants to start a blog?

My best advice would be to just start a blog! Blogging is an affordable business to start, so you can see if you like it or not without spending too much money. Plus, you won’t have to live in regret with wondering if you should have tried blogging or not.
